I reached out to LASD trustees, administrators, and other community leaders and asked: of those running for Los Altos City Council, who do they believe will work most constructively with the school district? The was no clear or strong winner, which is extremely sad.
Researching on my own, I found that Alex Glew has no concrete position on schools. Karen Berner has attended school, and now her kids do too; nothing of substance from her on schools. The best Jean Mordo comes up with is: if city property is the solution, they should lease rather than sell the property to LASD. However, he did get the nod from the Town Crier, so that may be enough to sway my vote.
Mary Prochnow is equally unsubstansive on schools according to her site. But she is the one who got the most mentions from those whose opinion I trust most. The one thing I can say with certainty is that the current city council members have been less than stellar with their assistance in solving the school facilities problem. Therefore—regardless for whom you vote—I strongly suggest you do so for anyone but "incumbent".
